Beginner's Guide to Getting a Tattoo

Tattoos are going to be a permanent addition to your art collection. You will be wearing it everyday. Make certain that it is something that you truly want. Be sure that the image you decide on is something you will want to live with for eternity. Getting a tattoo on the spur of the moment is not a great idea. Decisions you make in the heat of the moment could give you serious grief down the road.

The most expensive tattoo is usually a custom design. A custom design tattoo is developed by bringing your tattoo artist an idea or a picture. Then your tattoo artist will begin the process of designing the actual tattoo. Time is money and the more time your artists spends creating your custom tattoo design the more you will pay. Simple stock tattoo designs will cost much less. Your artist is probably very familiar with the stock designs offered in their shop. They can probably do the designs in far less time than a custom design. If this is your first tattoo a stock design will take less time to apply and may be better for your pain tolerance level. Tattoos that are less time consuming will also be much easier on your pocket book.

Color for your tattoo is very important. Depending upon the statement you want to make with your tattoo you can either use black and shaded or the boldest colors available. Both black and shaded and colored can make vivid statements. Using color can make even your stock tattoo designs unique. Color is often more costly than black and shaded but definitely can add a little more flare to your tattoo design. Black and shaded also has its strong selling points. A tattoo done with black ink only can really stand out. There will be great contrast between your natural skin color and the tattoo ink which can make any design really pop.

Location, location, location is not only important in real estate but equally important in tattoos. Where you put your tattoo will definitely tell your viewers a story. Put in a public place and advertise your attitude. Put it in a place hidden by clothing and keep it as a reminder of memories or know that the tattoo is just for that particular someone's eyes only.

Some places on your body are just going to be more painful for tattoo application. Areas where the skin is the thinnest is going to be more painful than areas that have more muscle mass or fat build up. Areas that may hurt more include your ankles, head, check and lower back. If you want to go for a less painful application point you might try your arms, legs, shoulders or your rear end.
